Living More because of you.
Dignified Living Program
The Dignified Living Program is a special fund created by the Northwood Foundation because we recognized that residents and clients were going without items and services necessary to maintaining their dignity and quality of life.
Our program provides ongoing support to residents and clients who are struggling with medical needs like transportation to appointments, dental work, hearing aids, and other necessities that aren’t covered by the government, their insurance or their income.
Wellness Initiatives
At Northwood, our mission is to foster mental health and wellness within our community, tailoring our support to meet individual needs. We’re dedicated to supporting our participants’ well-being so they can feel, think, and act in ways that help them embrace life’s joys and overcome its challenges. Currently, we offer two therapeutic programs, Seeds of Success in Halifax, and Seedlings in Bedford, designed to assist participants along their paths to recovery.
SEEDS of Success
The Marjorie Lindsay Centre
The Marjorie Lindsay Centre is located at Northwood’s Halifax Campus and is home to the Seeds of Success program. We gratefully acknowledge the the ongoing support by Marjorie Lindsay, the Northwood Foundation, and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Your support matters!
We can’t do what we do without you. Every donation, big or small, helps us make everyone’s aging experience the best it can be.
How You Help Our Community Live With Belonging, Dignity and Choice
The Northwood Foundation supports residents and tenants at Northwood to have access to a wide array of engaging activities. Whether it’s participating in gardening activities within our inclusive greenhouse, playing pool and having a drink at our bar, or attending concerts and performances hosted throughout the year, the community can anticipate a variety of enjoyable and exciting events.
Residents also have access to the Northwood bus, providing them with transportation to medical appointments, outings, mall trips, and special holiday light shows around the city. We acknowledge the significance of ensuring our residents have accessible transportation that enables them to actively engage beyond Northwood locations and stay connected with what’s happening in their city.
But your donations aren’t just about trips. Your sponsorship means we can offer our residents the following activities:
- Bingo
- Music Events
- Games
- Day Trips
- Holiday Lights Tour
- Excursions
- Dining Out
